Temple-style sambar recipe
South Indian temples are well known for their culture and unique architecture. They are also very famous for their tastiest Prasadam. Sometimes people visit temples just to savor the yummy Rice and Sambar. Dharmasthala, Subramanya, Kollur, and many more temples serve Rice, Rasam, and Sambar. I just love the unique taste and aroma of the temple sambar. I learned the recipe for temple-style sambar. Now, I am quite an expert in getting the same flavor to the sambar. In today’s blog, I am going to share a temple-style sambar recipe.

Temple-style sambar recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 cup Chopped Ash Gourd.
- 1 cup Washed Tur dal
- ¼ tbsp Turmeric powder
- ½ tbsp Salt
- 1 spoon Oil
- 2 glasses of water
- 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- ¼ tbsp Fenugreek seeds
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 7-8 Dry Red chilis
- 1 tbsp Urad dal
- 4-5 Curry leaves
- 1 spoon of oil
- 1 cup chopped fresh coconut
- 1-2 cups of water
- 2 tbsp oil
- ½ tbsp Mustard seeds
- ½ tbsp Cumin seeds
- 4-5 Curry leaves
- 1 dry red chili
- 1 pinch hing .
Instructions
- Take a pressure cooker and add 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes and 1 cup Chopped Ash Gourd.
- Add 1 cup Washed Tur dal
- Next, add ¼ tbsp Turmeric powder
- Add ½ tbsp Salt
- Add 1 spoon Oil
- Then, add 2 glasses of water and mix well
- Close the cooker and cook until 3-4 whistles.
- Mix everything once and mash if needed.
- Now, in a pan add 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- Add ¼ tbsp Fenugreek seeds
- Add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- Then add 7-8 Dry Red chilis
- Add 1 tbsp Urad dal
- Add 4-5 Curry leaves
- And lastly, add 1 spoon of oil
- Dry roast them until
- Next, add 1 cup chopped fresh coconut and saute
- Grind it into a smooth paste
- Now add this paste to Pressure cooked Tur dal and vegetables
- Add little water to the jar add it And mix well.
- Add 1-2 cups of water according to the desired consistency.
- Bring it to boil
- Next, in a pan add 2 tbsp oil
- Add ½ tbsp Mustard seeds
- Add ½ tbsp Cumin seeds
- And add 4-5 Curry leaves and let them splatter
- Then, add 1 dry red chili and saute.
- Add 1 pinch hing and saute.
- Add this tadka to sambar and mix it.
Instructions with Images
Take a pressure cooker and add 1 cup Chopped Tomatoes and 1 cup Chopped Ash Gourd.
Add 1 cup Washed Tur dal
Next, add ¼ tbsp Turmeric powder
Add ½ tbsp Salt
Add 1 spoon Oil
Then, add 2 glasses of water and mix well
Close the cooker and cook until 3-4 whistles.

Add ¼ tbsp Fenugreek seeds
Add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
Then add 7-8 Dry Red chilis
Add 1 tbsp Urad dal
Add 4-5 Curry leaves
And lastly, add 1 spoon of oil
Dry roast them until
Next, add 1 cup chopped fresh coconut and saute
Grind it into a smooth paste
Now add this paste to Pressure cooked Tur dal and vegetables. Add little water to the jar add it And mix well.

Add 1 pinch hing and saute.
Add this tadka to sambar and mix it.
