Hurali kalu Saaru

In today’s blog, I am going to share the recipe for Hurali Kalu Saaru. Hurali kalu or Horse gram is highly nutritious and power-packed with Protein and fibers. Having Horse gram on regular food will give you strength and boosts immunity. There are varieties of Dishes that are prepared using Hurali kalu. Hurali kalu Palya and Hurali kalu saaru is my favorite. I just love its taste and the satisfaction that it gives to my soul when I savor it with Rice and ghee. I really want you guys to try this recipe and enjoy it . Now, let’s jump into the recipe.

Ingredients 

1 cup of Boiled Horse Gram

1&1/2 cup of  water 

5-6 curry leaves

1 small chopped Onion

3-4 slit green chilies 

2-3 tbsp boiled Horse gram

1 lemon-sized Soaked Tamarind 

1 tbsp Salt (as per taste)

 2 tbsp Oil 

1/4 tbsp Mustard seeds 

1/4 tbsp Cumin seeds 

Add 1 dry red chilli 

5-6 crushed Garlic 

Instructions with Images

In a pan add 1 cup of Boiled Horse Gram

Add 1&1/2 cup of  water and mix well

Next, add 5-6 curry leaves

Add 1 small chopped Onion

Add 3-4 slit green chilies and Mix everything well

In a jar add 2-3 tbsp boiled Horse gram

Add 1 lemon-sized Soaked Tamarind 

Horse gram samabr

Grind it into a coarse paste

Horse gram samabr

Add the paste to it and Mix everything well

Add 1 tbsp Salt (as per taste) and Mix it well

Close the lid and cook it

Boil it until the quantity reduces to half

In a Tempering pan, add 2 tbsp Oil and heat it

Add 1/4 tbsp Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds each

Add 1 dry red chilli

And add  5-6 crushed Garlic and saute

Now, add this Tempering to the sambar

Add 1-2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
