Chavalikai palya/ Cluster beans curry
Having been born and bought up in North Karnataka, Our family has always loved to enjoy Jowar roti or chapati with some green vegetables on daily basis. Chavalikai palya/ Cluster beans curry is one of our family’s most favorite curry.
Therefore, we make sure to savor it with jowar roti at least once a week. It tastes amazing with Jowar roti. So, in today’s blog, I am going to explain the recipe of Chavalikai palya/ Cluster beans curry.

Cluster beans curry/ Chavalikai palya
Ingredients
- 150 gram Gaur/cluster beans
- 4 tbsp oil
- ½ tbsp cumin seeds
- 4-5 curry leaves
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup tomato
- ½ tbsp Garam masala
- ½ tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 pinch Hing
- ¼ cup of water
Instructions
- Take a pan and 150 gm of chopped cluster beans
- Add 2 tbsp oil and roast them well
- Take a pan and add 2 tbsp oil
- Add ½ tbsp cumin seeds
- Add 4-5 curry leaves
- Add 1 cup chopped onions and saute well
- Add 1 cup tomato and saute well
- Once tomatoes are cooked well add ½ tbsp turmeric powder
- ½ tbsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- Add salt as per taste and mix well.
- Let it cook for a minute
- Add 1 pinch Hing and saute well
- Now add ¼ cup of water and cook well.
- Finally, add roasted cluster beans and mix well.
- close the lid and let it cook for 5 minutes
- After 5 minutes open the lid and mix again
- Now the tastiest Chavalikayi palya is ready to serve.

Once the oil is heated, add ½ tbsp cumin seeds
Add 4-5 curry leaves
Now, add 1 cup chopped onions and saute well
Add 1 cup tomato and saute well
Once tomatoes are cooked well add ½ tbsp turmeric powder, ½ tbsp garam masala, add 1 tbsp chili powder and finally, add salt as per taste and mix well.
Let it cook for a minute
After that, add 1 pinch Hing and saute well.
Now add ¼ cup of water and cook well.
Finally, add roasted cluster beans and mix well.
Next, close the lid and let it cook for 5 minutes
After 5 minutes open the lid and mix again
Now the tastiest Chavalikayi palya is ready to serve.
