Idli Vada is one of the most popular South Indian breakfasts…Both of them tastes interesting and yummy together…And also they can be savored individually…Vada is one of my favorite breakfasts…It is crunchy from the outside and soft and flavourful from the inside…There are so many varieties of Vadas…Each one of them tastes so unique and delicious…Medu vada is one of the softest and delicious varieties of vada…In today’s blog, I am going to share one of the easiest and tastiest recipes for Medu vada…

Equipment

  • Mixing jar

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Urad dal
  • 6 dry red chilies
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • ½ inch Ginger
  • 1 tbsp salt as per taste
  • 1 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Take 1 cup Urad dal and wash it thoroughly
  • Soak it for 2 hours
  • After 2 hours drain the water and transfer the soaked urad dal into a mixing jar
  • Now. add 6 dry red chilies
  • Add 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • Add 5-6 curry leaves and ½ inch Ginger
  • Next, add 1 tbsp salt as per taste
  • Add 1 cup water
  • Grind it into a smooth paste
  • Now the batter for vada is ready
  • Transfer it into a bowl
  • Heat oil in a pan for frying
  • Now apply some water to your palm and take a small amount of batter and start giving the shape of vada to it
  • Add it to the hot oil and start frying
  • One more method is, apply some water to the surface of a big spatula and take some batter on it and start making vada
  • Directly flip the spatula on the surface of the oil..the vada will get itself into the oil...Watch the video for a better understanding of the Method.
  • Once one side of the vada is fried well, flip it
  • Fry until the color of the vada turn golden brown and oil bubbles start to disappear
  • Now, take out the fried vada onto a plate spread with Tissue...It helps to reduce excess oil from vada.
  • Now the crunchy and tasty vada is ready to savor.

Notes

How to fix a Runny batter?
Add 1 tbsp rice flour to it and give a good mix...If needed, add some more rice flour to it and mix, till it gets a perfect texture...Watch the video to understand it better...
